My Camino has already begun!
More and more signs... today I had dim sum with Remo and Chun - both who walked their camino in 2004.
Remo, a wealth of knowledge and encouragement, brought me a dvd, maps and books, and plenty of great advice. This was the last little bit of boost I needed. In fact, after describing my decision to take the plunge after happening across a wallet I found with a lucky $2 bill in side, he said, "Well, then, you've already begun your camino."
Included in Remo's plethora of aids was the book with almost EXACTLY what I wanted: "Walking the Camino de Santiago" from Pili Pala Press. I looked at the first few pages, and I've already ordered the 2nd edition (printed 2006).
Today or possibly tomorrow, I will officially book my ticket.
Then my order of goals will be:
- passport
- pilgrim application
- gear shopping
- learn Spanish (started listening to podcasts again)
- walk and physical training
I can't wait to do this. The whole first 28km uphill and all!
